Trail Report #3 Winter 2013-2014
Trail conditions have not improved over the past week. Some snow fell last weekend but it was not enough to provide adequate trail coverage. Any trails on a southern slope have little snow cover. The other trails have a nice ice base but are covered by very little snow. Riding is generally poor to fair.
The logging area from junction EX-50… 105 N at EX-49 has been reopened up through EX 50 and on to Stone Dam (Rte 105). The gate at Stone Dam has been reopened and the DC power line access road has been reopened to EX 49. Also the access to Bloomfield on the F-102 trail will reopen on Saturday morning Jan 25. At EX-42 South America Pond Rd is plowed and closed to snowmobiles all the way in from VT 105 to the Madison Brook gate – EX-401 however at EX-42 VAST Rte 102 crosses this road although we won’t be grooming EX 343 until the logging job is complete. There is a logging operation at EX-40 and our trail shows the road from EX-402 to the Madison Brook gate. The junction EX-401 has moved down the hill a bit. There is a logging operation on the F-2 trail at it heads into Guildhall village from the north. Every effort has been made to keep the snowmobile trail separate for this logging operation. There is road sharing on the old railroad bed up to EX-541. Whew!
