Trail Report #11 Winter 2013-2014
Our trails remain in good shape with adequate snow cover. We have been able to maintain a regular grooming schedule and the weather has cooperated with cold temperatures at night and very little sun during the day. The weather for the weekend will be a challenge. The warm weather will soften the trails during the day and the lack of seriously cold nights will prevent refreezing. If the temperatures remain about freezing as expected, grooming will not occur. Reminder that we groom DAY and night. Thus you should anticipate meeting the groomer at any time. When operating near the groomer please remember to use extreme caution and be patient. Moving the groomer off the trail into deep snow may cause it to get stuck (they do get stuck) and it is no small task to get it back on the trail and usually that makes a big mess of the trail. The groomer operators will do what they can to provide room for you to pass. If riders can keep their speed down then the trails will last longer and more people can enjoy them.
The logging operation at EX-42 South America Pond Rd has ended. There is a logging operation on the F-2 trail at it heads into Guildhall village from the north. Every effort has been made to keep the snowmobile trail separate for this logging operation. There is road sharing on the old railroad bed up to EX-541.
