Trail Report #11 Winter 2014-2015

There has been sufficient snow to provide our trail system with good riding conditions. The recent cold spell has made all snowfall very dry. That kind of snow requires a fair amount of work to get the air out and pack it down. The high winds of the last week have caused considerable drifting on our trails. Plus the long President’s day weekend has added to the deterioration of riding conditions. Unfortunately our groomer broke down early in the week and was not able to groom our trail network. We are awaiting on repairs at this time and hope to be back out later in the week. At that time groomer operators will be playing catch-up.

CAUTION... Active logging operations are ongoing in two locations...
#1... @ F-98 S at Freedom Way, near North Road, Guildhall (there is a signed side trail in place to skirt the yard/processing area.. stay out of the yard and on that trail ..watch for trucks and skidders.
#2… @ F-2 S just beyond the old sugar house on Boucher Rd. The job is almost finished, but there may still be equipment operating along the sides and sometimes in the trail...pay attention...stay out of their way, stay away from the processing equipment. There are logging trucks hauling out the products, you must get out of their way, pull off let them pass.

PLEASE STAY ON DESIGNATED TRAILS.... With the hard snow surfaces you can travel most anywhere, that doesn’t mean you should. Throughout the northeast permission is secured for designated trails, this includes through open fields, private and publicly owned forest. This is not like the western US where you can ride anywhere...regardless of what manufacturers' marketing efforts and U-Tube videos would lead you to believe. PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL.
