Trail Report #4 Winter 2017-2018

Our groomer has been back in service for the last two weeks. We thank the Lunenburg Polar Bears for grooming our trails while our groomer was down. During the last two weeks we had snow to the tune of about 12 inches in two separate storms. The snow was surely welcome but unfortunately it was very dry snow. Groomer operators worked to pack the trails and get the air out of the soft and fluffy snow. The new snow did provide good coverage and was helpful for lubrication and cooling where needed. As of this week we experienced a general warming trend and no new snow. Trails are generally good but in the wooded areas where the snow doesn’t penetrate well, bare spots are beginning to show. Also the power line trails that face south are showing some bare spots or thin coverage.
