Trail Report #3 Winter 2018-2019

All of our trails have some snow cover. The snow amounts that we received last week varied immensely from one area to the next. Additionally, out on the power line there was considerable wind which moved the snow all over the place with drifts in some areas and little to no snow in other areas. Groomer operators have been out and groomed most of our trail network at least twice since the snow storm. Our trails on logging roads have good coverage. Areas through the woods have much less snow and still have rocks and stumps affecting riding. Be cautious in the woods because these rocks and stumps are covered by snow but still stick above the trail bed leading to surprises. The bitter cold of last week and later this week helps hold the snow cover but doesn’t make for pleasant riding. More snow is expected this coming weekend. Any snow over six inches in one storm makes for difficult grooming. So if that is the case this weekend then it will take about a week to get the trails in shape. As always ride with caution and always under control. Several accidents this year have been the result of out-of-control sledders and excessive speed. :D
