Trail Report #4 Winter 2018-2019
The snow of this past weekend varied from eight to eighteen inches depending on where you are in our trail system. IT IS TOO MUCH! Grooming that amount of snow is difficult, puts a lot of stress on the equipment, doesn’t pack well, and makes the groomer consume huge amounts of fuel. We would be better off with six inches at a time. Groomer operators have been out this week and by now have at least groomed all of our trails except the trails from Guildhall village. Parking lots at Maidstone Lake, Dennis Pond, and Stone Dam (Rte 105) have been plowed. That was thru Wednesday. Then the rain came! The rain may settle the snow but also may open some of the wet areas we groom. Cold weather will return over the weekend. Then next week, we may get to hone the trails.

As always ride with caution and always under control. Several accidents this year have been the result of out-of-control sledders and excessive speed.
